Why do churches have lighting rods, sprinkler systems etc?
I have always wondered this. Why do churches have lightning rods, sprinkler systems and burglar alarms? Doesn't this show a lack of faith?

There's a whole book of the Bible dedicated to encouraging people to use wisdom "Book of Proverbs." Having faith in God is trusting in His Word and His nature. This faith should not be blind, but built on the Truth. The rain falls both on the faithful and the unfaithful. Being Christian, doesn't exempt us from the problems of this life. Even if we are wise in most situations, we can become the victims of these we did nothing to deserve. Many people do bring their own problems upon themselves though. The Bible tells us that we reap what we sow. If we steal and end up in prison, it shouldn't come as a shocker. Sometimes people are put into prison for crimes they didn't commit. A person should always think about the possible results which may come from their choices. Some things we cannot predict, but many negative things can be avoided if we would only use wisdom.

i think it is to protect the church from any harm coming from the outside world and any case there could be an emergency. some churches light candles, what happens if it falls over and starts a fire on a curtain?? if i was in that room, i would like to have a sprinkler system to stop the fire before the firefighters get there. Its pretty much like if there was a fire in your house, wouldnt you like to have something that would stop it before help could come? there are also vary valuable thing in churches with money value and sentimental value. burglar alarms are there to keep those items safe

It does not show a lack of faith, but shows intelligence.
As building got taller, they were more conductive with
lighting. Rods were installed to keep lighting from
hitting the other parts of the building. What does having
a lack of faith have to do with a lighting rod. It protects
the village & nearby structures as the Rod takes the charge
of the lighting, google it fool !

People of faith built churches without lightning rods, but they kept getting struck by lightning.

Generally, it's the local building codes that require sprinkler systems.
Sometimes, God sends the architect and the designer, the engineer and the contractor as his agents, not just the priest.
You should worry about your own faith, not someone else's.
Blessings.

Because faith should always take a backseat to practicality. Oh, and prayer has no demonstrable effect on the outcome of events.

Deciding to walk to the edge of a 5,000 foot cliff and walk off of it isn't a leap of faith, it's stupidity.

They have Faith yes, but are not stupid.
Faith does not make it rain, nor does it stop lightning.
But you know that, don't you? LOL

It shows that they don't trust God to protect them. They trust man and man's inventions more.
