2B/SS: Beckham, Gonzalez, Pennington, Infante, some rookie prospect?

So the league I was in is kind of thin on 2B/SS so I ended up stuck with Beckham at 2B/SS... I do not feel very good about him though... the guys in the title is who are available in the league... I was leaning towards Alex Gonzalez... I can see him doing well in that Mil park and lineup...

What are your thoughts on Pennington and Infante? You think they might be a better choice than Beckham and Gonzalez?

What are some intriguing rookies that would probably be available that I can take a flyer on?

Thanks!

Cozart from the Reds is definately worth the flyer. He was batting over .300 last year before an injury cut his season short. Also, the Reds really don't have anyone in the minors that could come up and pass him (Billy Hamilton is still a year away from being an impact player).

The Sox expect Beckham to have a big bounce-back year in 2012, but they also thought Adam Dunn would help carry them to the World Series last season. Gonzalez has some pop but is generally unimpressive and Pennington is a FA in 97% of all fantasy leagues.

Infante is versatile and can hit for average, but that's about all he brings to the table.

As far as rookies go, Zack Cozart of Cincy is the only one who comes to mind. Manny Machado of the O's could be the next Troy Tulowitzki, but he's probably a year or two away from the major league level.

Of the players you mention. Pennington is probably the best, with Infante 2nd but he is getting old. A good sleeper is Marco Scutaro. He is not "great" but is a solid average player. He is listed as a SS but will be the Rockies starting 2B, For a rookie SS, Zack Cozart from the Reds

I'd have to be pretty desperate before I took Alex Gonzalez. He's an amazing defensive shortstop.. but that doesn't translate well into fantasy leagues. He'll give you a few home runs.. but pretty much nothing else. Don't know that Infante is much better, he'll give you a bit higher BA.. but less power.

Beckham isn't bad, he could end up having a pretty solid season. He's right at that age where players typically have their breakout season ( if they have one ).
