Granny is correct about the nettle plant food. If you do not have a ready supply of nettles, comfrey can be used in the same way. It is more user friendly and an attractive plant for the garden until you use it. Being a perennial. you will have a regular supply.

For my garden plants and vegetables I use a carrier bag of nettles (use gloves of course to pick them) Soak them in a large tup with a lid of some kind, filled with water. Stir every day for about 2 weeks. It will begin to smell horrid so not too near the house. !! To use - use 1 part solution to 10 parts of water. It works well each year for me. Not used it on house plants though so not sure if it ok to use on them.
