Question About Blood Pressure?
I was diagnosed with high blood pressure last year, with readings of 190-130. My doctor put me on a medication, "hydrochlorothiazide", (which makes me feel like ****, and sent me on my way. I'm AWARE that losing weight helps, but is there a restriction on what I can do exercise wise? Doesn't cardio RAISE your blood pressure? My current average b/p is at 150-110. Which is still high. Are there other things I can do to bring it down? I also know limiting salt helps. But what else?

If the medication is making you feel that bad go back and ask him for something else/ There are a number of different ones you could try. How are your ankles? Swollen, any wheezing you may need a diuretic- a water pill. Eat more foods that are natural diuretics - like asparagus, Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. Watch grapefruit it can block the absorption of your high blood pressure medicines.
The exercise may temporarily raise your BP, but it also strengthens your heart, lose fat and enlarges your muscles= all which can help lower your BP. drink more water 6 to 8 glasses, cut back on all sodas/ pop.especially any with caffeine - coffee, regular teas, sports drinks, energy drinks, read the label if it has caffeine don't consume it, same with chocolate.
Try a relaxation therapy- one is guided imagery, and another good one is progressive relaxation. I use both but the guided imagery depends on you. What or where relaxes you. that give you peace? Mine is the beach. Deep breath in and out, then I find my self in the hot sand, use all your senses, I feel the heat of the sun and the cooling breeze coming in off the water, hear the waves coming in and the birds fighting over the fish, smell the salty air etc...practice until you can do it easily do it and it relaxes you!
It should help you. Good Luck!

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

Yes it can. I was just recently diagnosed with HBP also. My Doc prescribed Norvasc. It seems to work really well until...I go to the Doctor for a BP check and then it goes way up again..He has come to the conclusion that I also have "White Coat Syndrome" scared to death of Drs.. Maybe you have this also.. I always..ALWAYS get shakey, sweaty, rapid hear rate, etc. as soon as I step into the Dr.office..So yes, it can definitely affect your BP.. Nervousness plays a BIG role in the fluctuation of your Blood Pressure.. Good Luck~
