Are copper wires touching very bad?
My refrigerator stopped working. Tech number one came out and fixed it. He changed the compressor. A few days later the refrigerator stopped working once again. This time, before it stopped working, it tripped the kitchen breaker cutting electricity to the whole kitchen and the computer board (the green board with little silver things on it) fried with a burn pattern on it. Before the board burned, there was a loud pop, odd smell and sizzle noise. A new board was put in later that day and it too immediately sparked and burned. Tech one said to unplug it, soon left to figure out the problem and than he never returned to any more work. Tech two is called and he comes out. He told me the unit is shot and not to ever plug it in again. The copper wires were touching and that wasn't good. He also told me the unit was shot and shouldn't have been worked on at all, it should have been replaced because that would be cheaper, safer and easier than repair. Here is my question, was the copper wire problem really serious? I know tech one's company will not give me my money back for parts or the labor, but I think the service call should be refunded. If the situation is serious or the unit was shot from the get go, I think that would only be fair. If this wire thing is no big deal, then I will let the whole service call refund go. Okay, I think my situation has been explained well enough. In a nutshell, here's my question: how bad was this copper wire touching problem? Is it worth my time to pursue a refund for tech one's service call? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Couldn't tell you without the actual copper wires you're talking about, but it's certainly something I'd complain about a refund for, since it would be an obvious issue for them to spot.

You might try small claims if they won't refund your money. This will only work if there is proof of the type of problem, something like a picture.
