Can Bunion surgery help align my toes?! PLEASE HELP!?
Okay, I'll try to keep it short. So I have a bunion on each foot. Because of these bunions, my forth toe has been pushed up more on my foot and has stopped growing. I'm assuming it is because of the alignment of the bone structure. I've had these bunions for as long as I can remember. So there is a significant difference in size between my 4th toe and my pinkie toe. Its honestly not a pretty sight. Because of this, I cant wear flip flops or flats or go to the beach or swimming without water shoes. Its very embarrassing and no guys want me because of it. I have three normal toes and then a toe that's on my got, fat nd short then my pinkie toe on both feet.
basically my question is: If I get surgery on my bunions, will my 4th toe go back into place and eventually grow normally?
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I'VE BEEN SO SELF CONSCIOUS ABOUT THIS ALL MY LIFE

If you are old enough to be going to the beach and worrying about what boys think, then you may have already finished most of your growing. Many people's feet have already reached their full size by the time they are about 12 or 13 years old, so whether or not your feet would continue to grow depends partly on that. Also, it is unlikely that the shape of your toe would change significantly.
The other thing you need to remember is that guys will not be concerned about your toe. Really. Go to the beach and wear flip flops. No one will care about your toe. It is only you that notices it so much. Other people don't. And even if they do notice, they will just be curious, not concerned about how it looks. And it truly will not affect whether or not any particular boy would want to date you. That really is only in your imagination. You really do need to stop worrying about it.
They will not do bunion surgery unless all other less invasive methods have not worked. If they did surgery they might remove part of the bone of your big toe to straighten it, and/or they might realign the long bone between the back part of your foot and your big toe to straighten out the abnormal angle in your big toe joint, and/or permanently join the bones of your affected joint. There i sno guarantee that it would change the toe you are concerned about. Read what the Mayo Clinic says about bunions.
