Other than South Park, I`ve never heard a Jew call their god "Jehovah". Do some Jews really call god that?

I`ve never heard a Jew call their god "Jehovah" on any other TV show, movie or in person. Does Trey Parker just think Jews pronounce YHWH (Yahweh) as Jehovah?

There is no J or J sound in Hebrew, never has been and never will be, so no person who speaks proper Hebrew will ever call Yahveh, Jehovah. Those who are not orthodox may call Him Yehovah, Adonai. Elohim, Hashem, El Shadai, etc, but never Jehovah.

It was the Jews who thought "Jehovah" to be too sacred to pronounce. Even though the exact pronunciation is lost, it is no excuse for not using God's name. Thinking "Yahweh" is correct is prideful, and the apostle Paul 'every taking of pride is wicked.' Even experts think Jehovah to be most of all accurate than Yahweh.

Generally speaking, many people (including Jews) do not like to overuse the name of God and consider any use to be sacred and restrict its use to sacred discussions and rites.

I cannot speak directly for Judaism, but I am interested in their responses.

The tradition in Judaism is to never say the name of "god." In fact, you'll see many here who won't even write "god" out, but will write it "G-D" instead.

    Peace.
