Question regarding converting a spare room into a bath?

We are planning on renovating our master bath this summer and within the next month or so will be looking into getting estimates.

The master bath is small and the 'main' upstairs bath is less than spacious. The two baths share a wall between them, that if knocked out would create a more appealing sized master bath for resale (and of course current usage). We have what was used by the former owner as a kid's bedroom, but it's more realistically a 3/4 size bedroom; we use it now as storage for some of my stuff. I've always thought it might be worth converting to a bath as it's a touch larger than the current 'main' bath and if it could be converted to a bath (The room is above the kitchen, so I would imagine that would at least be a plus when it comes down to considering the plumbing), it would allow the main to be used to expand the master, with the end result being two larger, more usable and attractive bathrooms.

I haven't pitched this idea to her yet, and don't want to if it would be an astronomical expense. What would the ballpark be for converting a room into a bath? I understand fixtures, finishes, etc obviously play into the final equation, as does the market I am in, etc, but would we be talking 5k-7.5k... 7.5k-10k... 10-15k...15k+?

15K is about a third of what you want to do. here's the problem. You know those two bathrooms that are back to back/ well, the wall that separates them, the one you want to demolish, is what is called in the construction business as a "wet wall". It contains all the pipes and drains and vents for both bathrooms. They cannot be moved without demolishing lots of other walls and ceilings, from the basement to the second floor. 2 sinks, 2 drains, 2 tubs, 2 drains, 2 toilets, 2 waste stacks, the vent stack, are you beginning to get the image in your head of what this really entails? I'm sorry, but it's not practical without unlimited funds, and if that were the case, you'd just move.

Are you from India? How much do you know about demographics? If your allegations were anywhere true, why is the Christian population only 2.3% since 1950s, when 40% of Indians fall below poverty line? Did you know that there are more than 36000 sects of Christianity? Your are generalising Christians too much. Some Protestant groups like New Life, New Grace are active in conversions, doesn't mean all Christians are converting poor Hindus. It is sad that so called intellectuals have fallen prey to RSS propaganda. Did you know every other day these goons ransack church properties, vandalise graveyards, beat pastors which go unreported in media. Even police and the local politicians are biased, because Christians are not their votebanks. My suggestion for you is to open your mind and please think. In India, Christians are a soft target for communal forces. Not all Christians want someone to convert into their religion, some very few do it. Stop generalising. @Harshit : you think you know alot about them? It is because of people like you, India will alqays remain a third world country.. Politicians want to keep the main issues aside and fuel the communal passions of common Indians. You my friend have fallen prey. Good luck. INDIA SHINING.
