What's a really good set of headphones?

Is their a set of headphones available at a reasonable price that, of course, sound good but, more importantly, will last? I know this sounds odd but good sound doesn't mean a thing if a short time after you get them you can only hear out of one side. I mean doesn't this seem to happen to every f'n set of headphones, expensive or cheap, that you've ever had? A wire comes loose on the left or the right side and you've got a mono headphone. You live with it for a while and you just go out and buy another set. Or you set and jiggle the wire on the bad side hoping that the sound will come back and some times it does.....for a couple of seconds. Is their a set out their that doesn't do that? These are for my desk top computer and I don't like ear buds. I don't care if I look like a B17 pilot in WW2 as long as I can hear......in stereo.

My favorite headphones are Audio Technica WS55's. They sound great but more importantly, they are very sturdy and I can't imagine accidentally breaking them. The cables are thick and very securely attached on both ends. If they are out of your price range ($100), I recommend Sennheiser. Sennheiser makes good affordable headphones and I've never heard of them breaking. Whatever you do, don't buy Bose or Beats By Dre, they have a very bad history of poor craftmanship.

Source(s): I own WS55's and I know people who own Sennheisers, Beats, and Bose.

I don't know what amount of money that is because I'm American and don't use euros but that still looks like a lot of money so yes that is a rip off and I would never spend over $20 or $30 for an xbox live mic but I would never spend over $10 for regular headphones
