Att fellow Apple fans - what's this virus that's supposed to hit the Mack's all about?

Have an Apple Mac Pro - use it about three hours a day from a free site then turn off for the rest of the day - have all the security down loads they have given me - how can I avoid it - how would I know if my Mac was infected?

The virus that has hit almost 600 000 Mac computers is the flashback trojan.

It copies itself to your computer without prompting you, as a java program (sometimes disguising itself as an Adobe Flash Player download, but not always), and it searches for your personal information from there.

To avoid it, I would make sure that you are always visiting trusted websites, never download anything (especially Adobe Flash Player) that is not from it's official host website, and don't install random software that pop up when browsing around.

To check if you have it, download this simple application.

But, Apple has released a Java update for this trojan, and if you have Xcode or any good anti-virus installed, you'll be fine.

    Some 650,000 Macs infected.

This is a very serious malware attack on Mac computers.

Supposedly Mac has now reached the market share level where hackers are going to start attacking it now, as well as Windows.

Relatively speaking, the latest Mac malware is larger than the infamous Windows malware 'Conficker', & the Mac Malware automatically installs without any user intervention,

So mac users need to start taking security precautions, just like Windows users do.
