Should I give my new friend a birthday present?

Question

I've known this soon-to-be 16 y/o girl for 2 months, but since the moment I met her I've felt as if I've known her all my life.:)
Her b-day's coming soon and I know she hasn't got a lot of people to talk to, because she's new in our school.
Do you think it's a good idea to get her a present and invite her somewhere to spend some time with her?
Also, what should I get her?
She's really funny, got a sarcastic type of humor, loves literature and good music, but not so much clothes.That's kinda weird for me because I almost always buy clothes and something else for my friends, now I think I gotta stick with a book and a CD.
Any other ideas?That seems way too boring to me.

Hey :)

I think it would be really nice if you got her a present. It would also be great if you two spent time together, so you can show her how much you care about her. You could buy her a CD and a poster of a band/artist she likes, or some headphones with the CD. I know I would appreciate that, and don't worry about the present being boring (it's not!). It is more about you showing her you care, and the time you spend together is more important. I know you want to make her happy, but give her a present you think she'll like, one big hug, and spend some time with her. I'd be really happy if my friend did that for me. :)

A book and a CD is plenty, if you want to give her more gove her a voucher on a cd or book shop.
