what happened to the accused witches after the salem witch trial?

    Those that lived were freed. Eventually, apologies were given and restitution (600 pounds) was given to the victims families.

    They were executed. A total of 21 in all ( one at least being a man ). This is basic information on any website regarding Salem. The last woman to be found guilty and sentenced to death was the ancestor of Sarah Jessica Parker. However she was sentenced two days AFTER the Witchcraft Act was repealed ( news travelled slowly in those days ) and so she was released. This I got from watching "Who Do You Think You Are".

    Those that were not executed were released from prison to go on with their lives. As far as those who were executed, they were likely buried on family properties as it was believed they should not be buried on hallowed ground in the town graveyards.

    Most were hanged. One man wouldn't answer questions and weights were piled on him until he either talked or died (he died).

    I think they were let free from inprisonment
