How frequently, if at all, should a healthy 23 y.o. male have a medical check-up?

I've wondered about this, as I haven't been to a GP for a preventative medical exam in at least 6 years (I can't remember the last time). I usually only visit the doctor when I have a specific symptomatic complaint.

I'm curious if the medical community recommends these sorts of check-ups for healthy younger people. I live in Canada, so I'm not concerned about cost, but I don't want to put a drain on the system if there's no need.

Thoughts?

Even at 23 and healthy, you "should" have an annual medical exams.

You never know what might "creep-up" on you.
