whats a good kahler tremolo alternative?

I've got an old strat body that i've been working on restoring that it has a pocket routed out for a Kahler Tremolo. Problem is, I can't seem to find many kahlers under $100 and I'm working on a pretty tight budget. Are there any alternatives or knock-offs out there that I could use that would fit the stock trem hole without breaking the bank??

    Hello there,

Is the Kahler the top mount type (no springs cavity)? If so, those were used on the Strat clones made by Epiphone (among others). I have restored a couple of those. I watched ebay and have picked up 2 of them. I did not pay over $40 or either of the Kahler tremolo bridges.

If on the other hand, you have the Kahler that does use the springs cavity, some of the Floyd Rose and licensed by Floyd Rose will work. The hard part is matching the mounting post measurement. There are a lot of Floyd Rose clones around, You should be able to find one that has the same mounting post measurement as your guitar for $30 or so if you go with one of the clones.
