Signal repeaters make signal worse?
I started a new job and the building I'm in has terrible signal. By the end of the day, i'm down to 50% battery because it spends the whole time looking for signal. (I know it is not just my phone because it goes all weekend without charging). I purchased one of those stick-on passive antennas that mounts to the back window of your car to set up in my office, but it seems to have made the signal worse. I can't afford one of the $$$ permanent mounted repeaters and I can't rightly go mounting that in my office anyway.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix the problem or how to better mount the antenna??
Real answers only please, no trolling.
1 AnswerOther - Electronics9 years agowhats a good kahler tremolo alternative?
I've got an old strat body that i've been working on restoring that it has a pocket routed out for a Kahler Tremolo. Problem is, I can't seem to find many kahlers under $100 and I'm working on a pretty tight budget. Are there any alternatives or knock-offs out there that I could use that would fit the stock trem hole without breaking the bank??
2 AnswersRock and Pop9 years agoWill upgrading my processor noticibly increase performance?
I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 with a Pentium M 1.86Ghz processor and 2GB ram. The computer was bugging out, so I re-formatted it and noticed instant increase in performance. But I am noticing that when I try to stream video or download PDFs, it lags and slows down considerably. I found a 2.1Ghz processor that matches the chipset of my motherboard and considdered upgrading. Any thoughts on how this would impact performance??
2 AnswersOther - Hardware1 decade agoWhat is the best way to seal under the subfloor in a crawlspace?
My wife and I were about to install hardwood flooring, when we discovered that the carpet underlayment was trapping moisture in our subfloor. The crawlspace underneath the room has had a moisture problem for a while that I had thought I'd taken care of (more or less) but would still see moisture gathering down there after a particularly heavy rain. To solve this, we installed a french drain that appears to have done the trick.
Now that the moisture levels are back to normal, we want to ensure that we don't install these beautiful harwood floors, only to have a spike in moisture and cause our floor boards to cup. Is there a way to seal the subfloor from underneath??
4 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)1 decade agoWhat is the best floor nailer to use?
I'm about to install hardwood floors in my house and I'm looking at different floor nailers. If I can get away from the big $400 air-powered cleat style, i'd prefer it. I found a manual cleat nailer that was inexpensive, but was told that would be too much headache than would be worth it. I also was wondering about standard air-powered finish nailers and how they work with T&G flooring. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
3 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)1 decade agoFrigidaire mini fridge not getting cold?
I have a Frigidiare mini fridge (about 4.4 cu.ft.) that all of a sudden stopped getting cold. The outlet that I had plugged it into just before it went bad, I later discovered was reverse polarity. I've taken out the start device and overload protector and tested them with an ohm meter, and both seem to be in operable range...0 Ohms for the start device and 60 Ohms for the overload.
I had the fridge running while I was doing some drywall work, but I think that I was able to fully clean out the coils. If there is a hidden area where the coils are located (other than inside the freezer) information on that would be great!
I'm out of ideas....please help!!!

6 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoHow to fix a fluctuating idle on a '94 Sentra? PLEASE HELP!!!!?
I have a 94 Sentra with a rough/fluctuating/inconsistent idle. It stated out that the car would shake and jerk and all kinds of funky stuff while it was under lite load, and progressed to the point where it would stall out when stopped at a light.
I have given it a full tune up including new plugs and wires, new distributor cap and rotor button, new fuel filter, cleaned out the air filter, oil change with Marvel's Mystery oil (in both tank and oil). I have replaced the clutch (pressure plate and throw out bearing). And I have thoroughly cleaned out the AAC valve, EGR valve, and PCV valve.
Each time I fix something it gets better and seems to be fixed for good, but the next time i start up, it's back the way it was. I am out of ideas and need help! I know this is a common problem with Sentras, but every suggestion I find leads me back to square 1. PLEASE HELP!!!
2 AnswersNissan1 decade agoIs there a quick fix for a 98 Volvo V70 heater core instead of a full-on replacement?
I've got a 98 volvo v70 that is emitting white smoke/mist from the heater and A/C vents...So, I need to replace the heater core. Money is tight, so I'm not looking to drop a ton of money in parts/labor, so i was wondering if anyone knew of a quick fix (like StopLeak or something) that would solve the problem...at least until i can afford to have the thing fixed permanently.
3 AnswersVolvo1 decade ago94 nissan sentra engine stalling - HELP!!?
I've got a 94 sentra with a 1.6L engine and Manual trans. about a month ago, it was jerking and surging and driving terribly (the engine has 199860 miles on it with a timing chain that was replaced at 163000). After it started acting up, i replaced the spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap and rotor button, and the fuel filter. No change. I then replaced the Clutch (per suggestion from a mechanic who drove it). No change. I talked to a guy who suggested i try the Throttle Position Sensor. I couldn't get a TPS in for a day or so, so i made an adjustment on the one i had, which made the car drive worse than before...it was even stalling out when I'd hit the clutch at a stop light. So, now, after replacing the TPS, it's still no better. I'm desperate!!! What should I do???
