          cot²a = cos²a + (cota • cosa)² ... reduce to sines & cosines only

       cos²a ⁄ sin²a = cos²a + [ (cosa ⁄ sina) • (cosa)  ]²

       cos²a ⁄ sin²a = cos²a + [  cos²a ⁄ sina  ]²

       cos²a ⁄ sin²a = cos²a + [  cos^4(a) ⁄ sin²a  ] ... multiply by sin²a

         cos²a = [  sin²a  • cos²a  ]  +  cos^4(a) ... factor: cos²a

         cos²a = cos²a • [  sin²a  +  cos²a  ]

          1 = sin²a + cos²a ... identity

    I have been given 2*tan(theta): [(sin(theta)-a million)^2-cos^2(theta)]/cos(th... (liquid crystal demonstrate and including the fractions). enhance the numerator: sin^2(theta)-2sin(theta)+ a million -cos^2(theta). (a million-cos^2(theta)=sin^2(theta), so the numerator turns into: 2sin^2(theta)-2sin(theta). ingredient out the 2sin(theta) and the entire fraction is: [2sin(theta)*(sin(theta)-a million)]/[cos(theta)... The (sin(theta)-a million) cancels and you're left with 2sin(theta)/cos(theta), the place sin(theta)/cos(theta)=tan(theta). desire this is what you're searching for. good luck ^_^
