Dodge Caravan with airbag light on?

I have a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport. the airbag light has been on for about 3 weeks or so.

It comes on when you start the car,but will go away and come back on when you take a sharp turn.

I plan on taking it to a Dodge Dealership for diagnostics but I'd like to know what it could possible be before I go.

Update:

The van has over 150,000 miles on it.

I also have to take the van to North Carolina for registration renewal (its in my in laws name,so its registered out of north carolina and we live in connecticut)

I have a feeling it wont pass inspection with airbag light on-which is a major problem if we cant get the car re-registered.

the problem is most likely whats called a clockspring. it is behind the steering wheel and it is what keeps electrical contact to the airbag module as you turn the wheel. good luck

There is a recall on late nineties caravans for the bad clocksprings, so you may luck out, and it MAY be a covered part.
