When you have a silver chain how do you stop it going black with oil?

I clean my chain and then i put oil on the chain and within 3 rides the chain will be black with oil again.

Doe oil wax or somthing like that keep it silver for longer?

Here is what you do: Wipe the chain carefully, then apply oil. Then wipe it down again to remove excess lubricant. After each ride, wipe away any dirt that accumulated during the ride. About every third ride, re lube the chain. Once you get used to this, it only takes a minute or two to clean your chain and it will never get dirty. Wax based lubricants don't pick up as much dirt, but your chain may wear out more quickly and will be noisier.

You want to wipe off the excess oil after you oil the chain. I put some charcoal starter fluid on a rag and wipe the chain off after every ride. You only need to oil the chain about every 125 miles. The oil on the inside is what lubes the chain the stuff on the outside only collects dirt. My chain always looks like new and lasts longer.

Maybe you have excessive oil. After oiling the chain, you might want to wipe off the excess with a paper towel.

When you oil the chain, only put oil on the round rollers between the links. The outside plates of the links do not need oil.

    no

you just have too much lube

    the outside needs zero lube

it attracts dirt and holds steel dust from the chain wearing, making it black
