What is the best sound system for my '92 Miata?

Question

I just got a '92 Miata for fairly cheap. It doesn't currently have a radio but I plan on get one very soon. I'm a huge music fan and want a system with alot of bass that really kicks. The car does have two speakers in the door but due to the fact that I don't have a radio, I have no idea what they sound like. Being as specific as you can, what speakers would you suggest I replace my current ones with? Also, what size and brand subwoofers should I get that will give me the most bang for my buck? Ignoring price, what is the best combination of speakers, subs, and possibly amps to get a good, strong sound? Again, specifics would be great if you could give them to me. A price range is also greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Best sound system for a Miata?

A nice open exhaust.

I don't have a sound system in my Miata and I don't want one.  If I want to listed to music I will sit in my living room with the lights dimmed, kick back in my comfy chair, relax and devote my attention to it.  A Miata was built for one thing - driving - with the minimum number of distractions possible.

I like the one you get with the top down and a low restriction exhaust system. A mountain road with lots of turns in a Miata is a sound track of its own making.

kicker comp 12's - best for the money
