They are my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. who, in my opinion, haven't really done the research in trying to understand the point or context of the bible. the bible isn't merely a history book, and it's defiantly not a science book.the bible is a meta-narrative, it's a cultural narrative.the point of genesis is not whether or not it is a historical account of how God created the world. Rather that God created the world. it genesis doesn't go much into details in explaining how God made everything. rather it simply says that God created certain things on certain days.as for the"seven days"of creation. this has theological significance, given that seven is something that is repeated over and over in scripture.so, Genesis is more in regards to theology rather than history. so, I wouldn't say that I'm embarrassed for them or anything to that nature, rather that I understand where they are coming from.most christians in the U.S come from the protestant sect of christianity. they are taking this literalism view of scripture, which was never how the early church fathers have viewed scripture. great video on what I'm talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCasxhwzaVo&feature...
