which game should i start on? i've never played any of them.

a good starting point would be on what steve lopez said: Resident evil 2 , primarly because its the scariest of 5 and theres a ton of gore, plus puzzles. you must love puzzles if you wanna pass this game.
then once you play that then go on to : resident evil: code veronica x, one of my personal favorite, play and trust me you ll love it, still an issue with puzzles.

play resident evil 2!! although its really hard but its really scary and interesting.
if you dont like puzzles then play resident evil 4.

Chronicles and Archive are crap; until eventually u like rail-shooters. Then if so knock your self out. :) No Re4= somewhat diff. Storyline. equivalent of directors shrink of a action picture. it is annoying, I have been given used to it.
