2002 Suzuki Intruder 1500 won't start?
I ran into a problem yesterday with my 2002 1500 Intruder LC not starting. It's been starting great even through cold weather. When I hit the start button it does absolutely nothing? I had the battery checked and its good. Lights, horn and everything else work just fine. Only problem the bike won't turn over. Nothing dims when I hit the start switch. I've cleaned the kill switch and the clutch safety switch, still nothing. Some guys on another forum suggested it might be the decomp out of adjustment. Only thing with that wouldn't it turn over a little if that were the problem? Anyway I'm getting a little flustered here and if anyone could shed some light or have had this happen to them I'd appreciate you letting me know what you found to be the problem....Thanks

Intruder 1500LCs from this time period are notorious for this sort of starting problem. The bike acts liek the battery is dead, or the battery will drain suddenly, or the bike will turn over but not spark. Sometimes you can jump start the bike and it will fire right up, sometimes if you just let it sit it will fire right up, other times no matter what you do it will not start. These electrical demons have driven more than one Intruder 1500LC owner bonkers, and have trashed the reputation of an otherwise fine bike.

I owned a 1500 LC, and I had some problems with the battery/starting system.
The 1500 has a solenoid that pulls the compression release in the starting circuit, so that the bike can spin easily enough to start. If that is out of adjustment/not working, it will cause the sort of problems that you describe.
I fought it a couple of years, and generally just ended up replacing the battery, as it seemed to (short term) cure the problem. Pretty aggravating, I could ride it one day just fine, the next it wouldn't start. Good luck.

The problem is the starter brushes being stuck or worn down OR a faulty starter solenoid. both are common faults and both will give the same symptoms as you have described so well.
The guy who is from the other site is just blowing in the wind. The motor would crank over as it would with a flat battery.
I'm sure of what it is, try giving the starter motor a 'firm tap' with a hammer, it might free up a stuck brush in the starter, if it works don't think it is fixed, take it to an auto electrician with bike experience to have it tested and some idea of the cost. An exact price will need to have the starter dismantled...
