What is that red star ?
Currently ,directly above north central Florida at about midnight is a major star having a reddish hue. The "pointer stars" also direct toward it - somewhat.
Got a name for it ?
Thanks

Indeed, it is almost certainly Mars. The 'pointer stars' of the Big Dipper do indeed point more-or-less toward it, if you go *away* from the North and the North Star.
To see what's in the sky at almost any time/date in your area, you might want to use the heaven's above website.

Well, ..., as other's have said it's Mars. It's almost directly overhead ~8:00PM at night.

You are probably seeing the planet Mars, which is high in the Southern sky at that time. In Florida, it would be almost directly overhead.
