Shouldn't the Federal government be selling off public lands it "holds"?

To pay some bills. The Federal Constitution defines what sorts of lands it can possess and most of what it "holds" now doesn't qualify. For example, it owns about 7/8 of Nevada and 3/4 of Utah, and bazillions of acres of BLM land across the continent. The Constitution does not authorize this.

Careful what you wish for. They'll sell '7/8 of Nevada and 3/4 of Utah, and bazillions of acres of BLM land across the continent' to the Communist Chinese Govt.

The Chinese Government Is Buying Up Economic Assets And Huge Tracts Of Land All Over The United States

In 2011, America is for sale and the communist Chinese are eager buyers. The Chinese government is using sovereign wealth funds and Chinese state-owned enterprises to buy up economic assets and huge tracts of land all over the United States. Many of our politicians hail all of this "foreign investment" as something that is "good for America", while many others see something much more sinister going on here. In any event, this is a trend that is rapidly accelerating and that is causing great concern among patriotic Americans.

In my recent article entitled "China Wants To Construct A 50 Square Mile Self-Sustaining City South Of Boise, Idaho", I examined a potential deal that Sinomach (a company controlled by the Chinese government) wants to do with the government of Idaho. There will be more on this deal in a minute.

But first it is important to note that this is a phenomenon that is happening all across the United States.

For example, a Chinese investment group is buying up a very large chunk of real estate in Toledo, Ohio. The following is a brief excerpt from an article in the Toledo Blade on May 26th, 2011....

Dashing Pacific Group Ltd., which has already purchased the nearby Docks restaurant complex for $2.15 million, put its $3.8 million offer to buy the southern 69 acres at the Marina District in East Toledo back on the table for approval by Toledo City Council. Additionally, Dashing Pacific Chairman Yuan Xiaohong, in a letter signed in Hangzhou, said the firm wants a two-year option to buy the decommissioned Toledo Edison power plant property on the site.

Even more disturbing is what has been happening down in Texas recently. The Chinese have been gobbling up our oil and gas fields. The following is a quote from one local Texas news source about one of these deals....

State-owned Chinese energy giant CNOOC is buying a multibillion-dollar stake in 600,000 acres of South Texas oil and gas fields, potentially testing the political waters for further expansion into U.S. energy reserves.

With the announcement Monday that it would pay up to $2.2 billion for a one-third stake in Chesapeake Energy assets, CNOOC lays claim to a share of properties that eventually could produce up to half a million barrels a day of oil equivalent.

You can read much more about this particular deal right here (and more, it gets worse)

NO, at this point in time, they would all be bought up by rich foreigners. That land belongs to the American ppl for their enjoyment.

  • I understand your question. But I have to agree with the other answer that it would just be a temporary fix. The over spending/under taxing problem would continue. Plus, I believe in the future, especially our future generations. And we need to leave something for them. National parks was one of Americas great ideas. A "third world" country is, in my definition, one that does not respect it's own natural resources. Maybe capitalism will completely take over some day. Maybe we will become US Inc. But not today.

Obama signed the Wilderness Protection Act and made another 2 million acres protected land. That means that no mining, oil drilling, development can take place on any of this land. Then it is designated as wilderness with a sign from the UN. Likely part of UN Agenda 21. When and if that is fully implemented, no humans will step foot on any of it. They are allowing Alaska to build a road on some of it to a proposed airport but that's it. This 2 million acres is in several states. Utah is demanding some of their land back. 60% was designated federal land a hundred years ago. They want it back by 2015 or they will file a law suit.

Land is the "other" immutable coin of the realm. I mean that quite literally. That does not even include the amount of city, county and state owned wilderness, undeveloped, restricted, unincorporated land. Land is the coin of kingdoms and the base of a Kings power.

Each tier of government has land resources. They may develop the resources within them as they please. Providing .....A few tiers of government over sight departments allow it. Problem with this...Infiltration by leftism. Which dictates that land seized and controlled must not ever be surrendered. To private or public use. We spend billions per year "maintaining" these barren of people lands. Which equates to all effort to deny use. Full utilization of these lands resources and homesteading would renew American prosperity. We are denied these. Strictly to restrain Liberty and prosperity to that which government allows. Protection of land, fauna and environment is the excuse and hook. Catch 22.Shamefully, the best caretakers of these lands would do so freely. And are DENIED access. Same as we. I speak of the Native Americans. Who could regain their pride and nationhood.

It belongs to the people. Translated by government to mean IT owns the land. Being it IS the People. By leftist dogma and light.

We have an uneasy truce with the BLM on land we run cattle on. The land was marginal land unclaimed by the original homesteaders and area ranchers at that time formed grazing associations to oversee the maintenance of the pastures, roads, fences, wells and water pipelines. The government has never paid for most of these improvements and would in effect have to buy us out before they could sell.

Nope. It should raise taxes on the richest to help pay for government operations before giving away land held for ALL Americans to those same rich for pennies on the dollar in terms of actual value.

There's nothing in the Constitution that prevents the government from owning property.

They'd have to build roads then, and that money is "currently" being spent on Hookers in Columbia, buying guns for the Mexican Drug Cartels, and green energy farces such as the

    Government Motors "VoltzVagen".
