Can someone go twice to BasicTraining??? If you switch from one branch to another...?
If someone who is in the Military finishes his 8 years but wants to re enlists in another military branch (let's say from Army to Airforce) do they have to go through basic training again??
Thanks

every branch requires Prior service to do at least some form of initial training. the Marines will make you do all 13 weeks of boot camp, no matter what.
everybody else will vary between a few weeks to the whole thing based on how long you have been out.
that being said, it is nearly impossible to switch branches now. no one takes prior service AD any more.

They can have to.
If your out of the service for more than 3 years - you go to basic in every service branch
2. If less than 3 years - it varies by service branch
Army -- marines - no --- AF, Navy or coast guard - yes
Air Force - everyone goes to a two week mini basic
Navy - it is determined on a case by case basis
Marine Corps - everyone goes to Boot
Coast Guard - everyone goes to a 4 week mini basic

It depends on what is in your contract, will you have the same MOS, so AIT again as well, or will you loose rank?

Dan is correct, The Marine Corps is the only branch of service that makes other branch service members attend boot camp no matter what rank is achieved. You do however get to keep any personal awards given.

I agree with dan, let's say you plan on re-enlisting on the Air Force from the Army, the AF is going to require you to attend some kind of familiarization program which is 10 days long, if I'm not mistaken. But it really depends on which service you're planning on re-enlisting to.

I believe that the Marine Corps is the only branch which requires other service vets to go through basic. The others have a pretty simple orientation program.
