Why do Puerto Ricans hate Mexicans?

I was born in Cayey, PR father Spaniard-Italian, mother full blooded Puerto Rican. I was raised here in the states and find that there are many hispanics from all latin countries. I myself like everyone and am not racist, and have made friends with some Mexicans. I have gone to their parties where if there is bachata I will dance it the Caribbean way. A lot of hip movement which offends many Mexicans, because it is not proper for a lady to act that way. If I want to dance I sometimes ask the young men which is also improper for a girl or woman to ask a man. So I guess I have to sit there like the Mexican girls waiting to be asked.

I am sorry that I have offended without trying, but dang "Dorothy you are no longer in Kansas". You do not have to forget your traditions and customs, but sometimes you have to mold into a new way of life.

I find Mexicans feel that Puerto Ricans do not know how to speak spanish, and Puerto Ricans feel the same way about them. Well let's all get it straight we are all brothers and sisters with the same language accept have different dialects.

It's sad that people can't get along that is why wars have started because of differences in believes and way of lives.

Puerto Ricans might have U.S. statehood but that is not to say we are any better than others. And yes many other hispanics do not like us because of that reason and because we too talk bad about other races. STOP THE HATE AND GET ALONG! Those that do not educate themselves about other cultures are just ignorant in their believes.

I'm Puerto Rican and I've just always felt like Mexicans were below Puerto Ricans. They have to jump the border for Christ's sake. Puerto Ricans are American citizens from birth and we have American rights and benefits. Mexicans ain't ****.

Puerto ricans hate Mexicans because they have a real country and not a little island were U.S.A can just come and say "this is owers now".. Mexicans have way more culture and history. Puerto rico has nothing to Bragg about except for their dancing and music. That's it. What a shame. But yea that's why they hate mexicans

Most of these responses are very ignorant. Not ALL mexicans are border hoppers that dont learn english and live like rats in one bedroom, not ALL puerto ricans are ghetto. Theres many great mexican people in politics and entertainment as well as puerto ricans. People need to stop acting like they're better, shows lack of respect and self esteem.

Based on TRUE RUMORS! Mexicans hated Puerto Ricans first! And for many reasons: 1. They're very, very, very, very, very, very JEALOUS of how we are US citizens and they're not... that's the main reason though! other reasons are because of our Culture. -Puerto Ricans, here in the US, were also discriminated with the Blacks. As a Puerto Rican, I've noticed that about 85% of our Culture is African based.- I've heard mexicans ALL THE TIME talk so bad about blacks and when we hear them, we feel as if those disrespectful comments are being thrown at us. SInce we have a Black side to us we know that feeling a black person gets when told the N word or talking about when they were slaves- WE KNOW THE FEELING! IT'S DEEEEEEP IN OUR BLOOD LINE. SO DEEP, NO PUERTO RICAN CAN DENY IT! They're the ones who ALWAYS say: "10,000 Puerto Ricos can fit in Mexico!" They try to make us feel bad since our Island is called the "Island of Enchantment." They get jealous and say stupid comments like that. That's why we dont get along. They wanna seem BETTER THAN PUERTO RICANS, BLACKS, AND EVERY OTHER RACE OUT THERE!!!!

Sotomayor fired qualified white and Hispanic firefighters and hired unqualified black men... She is a racist that almost got fired immediately after Obama appointed her to Supreme Court Judge. Puerto Ricans (and some Cubans) act like Black people and Mexicans do not. Hell, I never met a Puerto Rican "woman" that didn't date black men, unlike Mexican women. See the difference?
