My car has been left still for 7 weeks and now the battery is flat so?

How likely is it the battery is worn out?

I did start the car twice in that time until it had warmed up. I got the battery about 3 years ago and it cost me 70 pounds so it was not a cheap one.

car batteries are a living thing,if you dont feed em they die.

and as you know not feeding makes you weak,so when you asked your battery to start the car,it put in its last gasp of breath to do what you asked of it.when the battery charge is low(voltage) and you put a great load on it(starter motor) it can cause an internal short in the battery, which results in battery failure.

you mention how long you have had the battery, that battery s life started the day it was filled and charged the first time.who knows how long this was before you paid for it?

when a large load is put thru a battery the internal lead plate buckle under the load, sometimes these plates can move to the point when they touch and your battery will discharge otself internally

my suggestion to you is borrow a known good battery for a week or 2,fit it to your car and see if it goes flat.if it does not you know your battery was to blame,if it does go flat, you have an electrical drain somewhere.

i hope i helped a bit .good luck with it

You need a new battery. No battery--no matter how new--can sit discharged for any length of time. You should put it on the charger just in case, but exxpect it to not take a charge.

The same thing happened to me, so I got a solar charger. I haven't checked it in some time, probably should to see how it is doing.

Yes it was not a cheap one and it died because u left it for 7 weeks.Don't expect it just to go on dormant state untill u come back.It was maintaining some of ur gadget there like the clock & other stuffs.

It takes about 8 miles of driving for the alternator to replace the charge used by starting the engine one time. So if the vehicle hasn't been driven for a while the battery needs to be charged with a charger and then load tested.

first, jump the battery off, then let it run for a while, or drive it for a while. it should be able to hold a charge after that

If your battery is flat, just make sure to add air to it. You may also want to double check your tires, they may need a jump. Also, right around the 7 or 8 week mark of sitting still, the flux capacitor has a tendency to stop working. Just have your mechanic double check that. Good luck!!
