What can a 1mw Green Beam military grade laser do?
Hi, recently i bought a Green Beam 1mw military grade laser with a 532 nm wavelength off amazon ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/DIRECT2U-Military-Pointer-... ) Im waiting for it to get delivered. Im wondering what things you can do with it, for example burn paper or pop baloons. Has anyone got any tricks you can do with it?
Thanks :)
Nothing to do with star spotting or anything, im talking about burn things ! :D

It is 1mW = 1 milli watt and it will not even pop a balloon I have a 30mw one that looks exactly the same and that will not pop balloons, light matches etc. You should be able (just) to see the beam at night and definitely if foggy. That advertising is very misleading as to where they get "Military grade" from is beyond me and there are 5mW ones on the same page for a couple of quid more, my 30mW one was only £9.99. Sorry but you have paid well over the odds for a very low power laser pointer.
My 1w Artic laser is a different thing though as that will burn anything combustible it is pointed at and from a distance as well but it is not a toy.

I use mine in my astronomy - on all but the very driest night, it can project a visible line up into the night sky, so I can point to stars, planets and constellations when I'm giving friends and students a 'tour of the sky'. I can also use it to align a telescope very quickly; I just hold it to the side of the tube, then point the 'ray' at whatever part of the sky I want to look at!
Warning - if you're pointing your laser into the night sky, don't be tempted to point at aircraft - it's dangerous - an illegal, you can get sent to gaol!
It also feels a little bit like wielding a light sabre!
