If you are leading a race someday near the end, and you'd like a little

courtesy from the guys with no chance of a good finish,

you'd better give some when the shoe is on the other foot....

I agree with the lucky dog scenario. You need to be the FIRST car a lap down.

other than that... there is nothing to gain by racing the leader hard.

And certainly nothing to gain racing the second place car hard at all.

Sometimes you have to just admit, "today isn't my day", and hope

you get treated right when it is.

once you're a school student that makes minimum salary you need to force a motor vehicle you may locate the money for. yet that does no longer seem cool, might it? The RX8 is doubtless one in all the worst accessible autos you have got chosen, they have been pulled off the marketplace with the aid of fact engine existence grow to be plenty shorter than people predicted and that they weren't stable. At this factor you're screwed, with the aid of fact the vehicle is valueless and you nonetheless owe money on it. you may attempt to get yet another loan yet i does no longer be confident. stable luck. ...

At the end of the race, when the leaders are duking it out the lap-down cars need to get out of the way...earlier, during the race, a lap-down car has a right to get racy as they still have a chance to get back on lead lap and finish well.

I dont think theres a driver out there that hasnt been a lap down at somepoint. Most of the drivers in Cup are respected by all. just to make it to cup you have to be a well respected awesome driver.

    Not nessicarlily.

Not if they're only a lap down!

if they were more than two laps down or if it was towards the end of the race. then "yeah"

But they have The Lucky Dog rule, and you have to race the leader as he's passing you.

You better either stay in front of him or match his laps times. In competition, you never worry about having respect. It's all about you. Your not racing for the other guy. Your racing for yourself. He can get his respect from his wife and team mates. If he isn't my team mate or working for the same organization, he is the competition. He is there to be beaten like an opponent in a boxing ring. He's going down in the 3rd. No respect!

The lap down cars are in a race too. Most of the time they can easily get out of the way without causing themself or the leaders too much time. But I get frustrated when leaders complain about lap down cars. It's their job to get around them as much or more as it is for backmarkers to pull off the road for every single faster car.

no, not respect, but there are rules stating that a driver a lap (or more) down should give way to the leaders. that wya they reduce the ability for the back markers to influence the outcome of a race.

I think not, Now if a car that is more than a few laps down goes and races the leader so hard that he wrecks him then that is a different story. But I think lap down cars should be allowed to race the leader, but to a point.
