There is no U.S. law requiring a U.S. citizen or permanent resident to hold a valid passport. For naturalization purposes, you will be asked to show your expired passport. You then will be asked if you have receive a newer one, which you can truthfully answer with "no." That's proof that you have not been absent from the U.S. since your old passport expired, which is a positive thing. So, no, you don't need to apply for a new passport. If you lose your old citizenship when naturalizing or if your old country allows you to enter with a foreign passport (few countries do), then you don't need another passport from your current country of citizenship as long as you live.

that's a messy subject. you're based on the discretion of the immigration officers you come upon. in case you have a US drivers licence (appropriate identity), you're able to be able to desire to be allowed to pass away the u . s . a ., yet you merely isn't allowed to return except you have a valid passport. on the Jamaican area, they could additionally deny you get admission to (on the inspiration of inadequate identity to be certain which you're a Jamaican), yet denying you get admission to is technically unlawful via fact that they could be deporting a Jamaican citizen from Jamaica! in case you desire to be ensured an excellent flight, GET a sparkling PASSPORT. EDIT: airlines themselves do no longer somewhat CARE in case you have a passport or no longer, as long as you have "sufficient identity" and documentation as stipulated with the aid of the trip spot and local immigration officers.

Never allow a passport to expire! Renew it. Just because you do not currently plan to travel outside the US does not mean some emergency won't arise which demands it. If your purse/wallet were stolen, that passport in your safe deposit box could be needed as ID until you could replace drivers license, green card, etc. Life throws curve balls all the time. Be prepared, protect yourself. Renew your passport and keep it safe. Besides, getting US citizenship does not necessarily revoke your current citizenship. You could very well need that passport from your current country of citizenship in the future. Renew it!

I would think you need your countries passport in order to naturalize in order to identify yourself legally and to confirm your citizenship. Therefore I would recommend renewing your passport.
Unless you are from a country which doesn't allow dual citizen you still will be a citizen of your home country. If you want to travel to your home country you probably still will be required to enter with your home countries passport even after you became an US citizen. Though that will really depend on your home country.

I double checked the naturalization and you are right your passport is not needed.
One thing I must tell you, having been on yahoo for a long time? I have seen too many people with emergencies asking questions about their home passport.
Keep that in mind, that question has come up too often yahoo question to neglect .
Also when you do travel many countries demand that you present your home passport when entering.
Be wise.

The passport is not required for naturalization. With no intent to travel there is no need to renew it.
