Probably not. Most likely the poor child had a hidden health problem. It might not be a bad idea to have kids check out by a Dr before getting into serious sports.

Well I don't know the reasons for the child dying, but I don't think we are pushing kids too hard in sports.

What I think is that kids live a practically sedentary lifestyle, then for an hour twice a week, they run their little brains out and it takes a toll.

When I was a kid, we had PE 3 times a week and it WAS physical! After school, we'd play until the street lights came on and on the weekends, we were bicycling, at the park, rollerskating, ice skating, skiing, waterskiing, we walked to our friends's houses and played...we never stopped moving. What the kids are doing these days, we could've run circles around them. But for kids now, they don't move unless it is some sort of organized sport 2 or 3 times a week.

But nowadays you can't let your kid stay outside too much...too many creeps out there waiting in the shadows. What d'ya gonna do? Keep 'em inside to protect them and don't let them out until a parent can have them locked into their sights for the entire activity. *sigh* it's so sad.

    Poor little guy :/

I think with all these collapses in soccer that hear about these days (Muamba last month, and Morisini last week), the players already had heart defects which didn't show until it was too late.

yes i do,not only is it the coaches fault and teachers but the parents are to blame also for allowing their child to engage in a contact sport.after the first injury, they shouldnt allow that boy/girl to go back to it.
