Cantering. Trotting is harder to master because of rising and every horse is different. It takes me a few rides with each horse to get used to their stride. However, a canter feels totally natural, and it feels like you and your horse become one. I could almost fall asleep in a canter. By far the most comfortable gait :)

I feel more confident at trotting because I'm just better at it and I've been doing it a lot more than cantering so I find trotting easier in that sense, but I am cantering and keeping my seat well (sometimes I do, sometimes I don't) then I think cantering is less effort because you are more moving with the horse rather than moving your own body, if that makes sense.

I actually disagree with the majority here and I say trotting is easier. It took me a while to be able to properly sit the canter without bouncing around on my horse's back, trotting took me much less time to get the hang of. Although I will say I like cantering much better than trotting, which I think everyone can agree on that.

Depends on the horse.
The horse I riding has a lovely, easy trot but when it comes to canter, he acts like a barrel horse and decides to go around corners like somethings in there and he has to race past.
On other horses (or maybe most horses) the canter is much smoother and you can just go with the flow.

Cantering is much easier as long as you have balance (unlike my mother (: ). I believe the trot is bouncy, even when posting, and a lot of work! The canter, to me, is the smoothest gait, especially when collected. Hope this helps (:

i think cantering is soooo much easier! its smoother and i hate trotting jumps, going into a jump its just more natural for the horse to be at a canter

Well, I've been riding quite a while so it's hard to tell in just ring work. I do find it easier to hold two point in canter though!

Cantering is easier to sit to, but harder to sit to properly with the correct position. But its WAY easier for riding with no stirrups!

Depends on the horse. The pony I ride is a pain and she bolts. So currently, I prefer trotting xD
But when I ride other horses I prefer cantering :)

To me it depends on the horse. Usually the canter is easier because it is more comfortable and you don't have to post or anything.

Trotting is easier, especially if you're riding my horse because he canters pretty fast.
