Why do Chinese buffets charge more for take-out?

This place charges $11 to eat in but when you want to take for to-go, it costs like $15?

Why do they do this?

Wouldn't they lose more money by letting you eat in?

In most cases if a buffet does allow you to take out the food is sold by the pound.

If you are able to fill a container or even two for the $15.00 that is probably about what you would eat while there.

Odd thing about many of the buffets what people eat al lot of is the rice and noodle dishes. These are the least expensive of the items. Many of the items have a lot of vegetables and the meat used is mostly dark meat chicken, lesser cuts of pork or beef are also used. Unless the buffet you go to has crab legs then some times the buffet will exclude the crab legs in the carry out option or the legs they will charge by the pound.

Trust me they are not going to lose money.
