How can Hansen win the Derby?

Since everyone knows he has a tendency to take the early lead and go the first 1/2 mile too fast, it seems like the other jockeys would just let him do that and then pass him at the end. Note: I think Hansen is extremely talented, but also very high strung and uncontrollable

Keep him off the Pace but within striking distance 4 to 5 horses behind, then turn him loose in the stretch run. HANSEN PREVAILS!!

I love Hansen, think he's a great horse. I think he needs to sit back a little bit to win it. If you think about it, even if he sits back he'll still probably be ahead by roughly two lengths so it's not like he won't have the lead. He's the kind of horse that can put together a huge race and and can easily take races from gate to wire when he's running his best. I'm putting him in my tri and super wagering for the derby for sure!

He has to find a way to capitalism on his early lead and somehow consolidate the position. I'm betting on him to win the Kentucky Derby.

Hansen will take the lead if it's there for the taking, if trying to go wire to wire, he will run out of gas coming up short that way.. however, if Hansen sits of the pace, which we have seen him do, this will benefit him, as it's the late running style that wins the derby..so if played off the pace, when speed is backing up Hansen makes his move in a late run..and will win the Derby..!

Hansen's is one of the top 5 in my opinion. He's still improving and will love the Churchill dirt surface. The Kentucky-bred Hansen could have a home-field advantage at Churchill Downs and remains a top pick of mine for this year's Derby. Well, even though Hansen was defeated by going too quick early, his effort was solid enough to be considered a major threat if he sits off the pace, setting up for a closing running style, if Hanen sitts off the pace early in the race and then makes a late charge he could be our winner...he's fast.

In my opinion there are seven top horses that are going to be difficult to separate, Hansen being one of them, and if you include Alpha, who was narrowly beaten by Gemologist, and Take Charge Indy, who beat Union Rags, you could argue that nearly half the field has a legitimate chance to win the race. And that doesn’t even include horses that could be live long shots like Daddy Nose Best and Went the Day Well. ..The Kentucky Derby is an extremely difficult race to handicap, where anything can happen..can't wait. :)
