i have a sump pump issue!!!?
for about a week ive had a pool of water on the side of my house, i called a plumber and he came out yesterday, said it was noraml for my sump pump to run every 6min and drain ( for this time of yr) but today it really made me think... none of the homes next to me are having this issue!! im calling it back out but what gives???

USA Not enough info. I assume the sump pump is in the basement. If the exterior perimeter foundation drain IS tied into the sump, it will run quite often. Most places are not set up that way. If you are getting a lot of water in the basement, you need to divert the water away from the foundation of the house, Start with rain gutters. Where the leader runs down the side of the house, at the bottom, attach a section of leader or 3 inch pipe at least ten feet long to drain the water away from the house. Build up the soil around the house so the ground slopes down AWAY from the house. Get rid of water near the house!

the pump should run only when the "SUMP" is full not every 6 mins or so , is the pump in a lower part of the ground from where the pool of water is ? (ie in a sump) if it and you a pooling water the pump is faulty, I run a drainage company http://www.blockeddrainsbirmingham.co.uk/ and have many years of experience in sump pumps if you have any pictures they would be great.
