I don't wanna hear no $#!T about Pluto not being a planet, but why can't Pluto have it;s own day like Earth?

PLUTO IS A PLANET!

And I take strong exception to any a$$hole that claims otherwise.

I asked the question earlier, and got a bunch of smart mouth.

So I'll ask again and I don't want no smart mouth.

Today, April 22nd, is Earth Day and we celebrate and honor our mother Earth as we should.

Every planet deserves a day of notice and recognition.

Pluto is one of my favorite planets.

Why can't we declare February 18th as 'Pluto Day'.

Now, if you have a favorite planet, asteroid or moon; Nominate a special day for it but please don't insult the dignity of the planet Pluto.

I agree - Pluto IS A PLANET !!! Just because a scumbag cult group called a mid-night meeting and secret vote - that doesn't change reality !

If pluto is your favourite planet that is fine. If you believe it should be classified as a planet, that is your opinion, but the scientific community has strong arguments as to why they classify it as a dwarf planet. In science, there needs to be a generally accepted premise which is supported by facts, evidence etc..

For your sake, I declare that Feb 18th is Pluto Day! Do with it as you wish. You can give thanks and honor pluto in your own way on that day now!

    Enjoy!

If Pluto is a planet, then Eris, Haumea, Makemake, Sedna, Ceres, 2007OR, 2002TC, Quaoar and Orcus are also planets. I don't know about you, but having to remember 18 different planets in order for science class would be, well, a bit of a pain?

    Who says they don't.

Of course, their year is like 248 of our years. So it they celebrated it, say, when it was 1930 here on Earth, then their next celebration should be in 2178 (Earth calendar).

Far as I know, no one on any other planet celebrated Earth Day, so why should we celebrate their days on our planet? It's not as if they have ever invited us. Let them celebrate their day and we'll celebrate ours.

    ---

PS: we seem to celebrate ours roughly 59% of the way between perihelion (Jan. 5) and aphelion (July 5)

That is on the 108th day of a 182-day interval.

On Pluto, perihelion was in September 1989 and aphelion will be around September 2113.

59% of that puts us around Winter/Spring 2063.

Therefore, I agree that February 18, 2063 would be a good day to celebrate Pluto's Day. The one after that would fall in February 2311.

Okay, if you want to call the president, and tell him that February 18th should be Pluto day, you can do that. But my favorite planet doesn't have it's own day, so why should Pluto get one?

Take a look at what category Pluto is under on NASA's website:
