A scout said that RG3 is selfish and dosent have great character, agree or disagree?

Last year this same situation happened with Cam Newton, is it just me or is this turning into a racial thing? Cam had a great rookie year, a season to remember and people were saying he wouldnt be good in the NFL. I think RG3 will have a great year as well and they will say the same things about another BLACK QB next year.

    Disagree.

In what ways is he selfish? When he chooses to run with the ball? Aaron Rodgers does that, Tim Tebow does that, does that make them selfish?

Only morons turn this into a "race" issue.

Newton, regardless race or how he played last year, had a number of red flags surrounding him coming into the draft, and only a blind man would think otherwise. He came from a gimmicky offense, had questionable character, as well as doubts to his football IQ. Now after 1 season, are those doubts still out there? For the smart NFL fan, or just longtime fan, yes, because 1 season doesn't instantly make someone a star player for their career.

For Griffin, it probably has more to do with 1 of his interviews with 1 of the teams. Most of those teams base just about everything on the interview, it goes bad, and they will drop from their board instantly.

Again, this has nothing to do with "race".

I don't know Griffin personally so I can't really comment on his character, but I'm very skeptical of any "anonymous scout" who says something like that about a player when not one other person has said or has even hinted at anything like that about Griffin's character publicly to this point. And while I don't know if all the comments about Newton's character were necessarily racially motivated (there was also a question of whether he'd been paid to play college football), the tone and some of the wording of the comments by the "anonymous scout" on Griffin did seem a bit on the racist side to me.

  • I've never met RG3 or the scout personally so I can't really give you a straightforward answer. RG3 doesn't seem like a selfish guy to me, but I didn't go to his combine or schedule an interview with him. I can tell you that it's very unlikely this is a racial issue on any level. Even a slightly racist scout would have a tough time finding a job. Teams trust their scouts to evaluate players objectively and find the best talent available. If a scout is downgrading particular players because of a player's race, the scout is doing his franchise harm and will be promptly fired at even the first suspicions of racism.

I like the answer "We Talkin' Bout Practice" gave. It's very likely someone's trying to fabricate bad reports about Griffin to hurt his draft stock. Why? Well if I were one of the executives for the Dolphin's organization I'd have entire teams of scouts writing false reports about RG3 and Luck and spreading them through the media. It's a longshot, but if it's enough to scare either the Colts or Redskins away from either prospect than Miami's just hit the jackpot. They trade with the Vikings at #3 overall and finally land themselves a franchise quarterback. There are tons of lies thrown around in the offseason, all for the purpose of benefitting their team in anyway possible on draftday.

Oh yeah, and Cam Newton may be a freakishly talented guy, but he's still kind of a jerk from what I've heard players say about him.

It isnt racial and Cam Newton is slightly selfish. Lol, he was like a running back in the red zone last year. Maybe its more about the fact he overshadows his Baylor Teammates, he's a lot better than them. From what i see, he sounds pretty cool and grounded, like a down to earth guy. We'll have to see over the season, but i would disagree for now.

RGIII takes the snap and he's in trouble, he might not get one off, he takes off. He's off and running to the 45, 40 to the 35, 30 to the 25 yard line, sheds a few and BREAKS ONE! TOUCHDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Considering the draft is coming up, and these reports are just coming out, I doubt their is any truth to them. Just people with a agenda to push.

It is not a racial thing, either. Last year Cam had questions about his character from the get go, dating back to his lone year of playing college ball. I don't think those concerns were unfounded, either. He had past troubles, so it was only natural for people have him under a microscope.

i disagree because to say he is selfish is to say that he is a run first qb but when i think of rg3 i would compare him with aaron rodgers who kills you from the pocket but he also stretches the defense with his ability to run the ball

Do I trust a scout that doesn't even have the decency to put his name on the statement he makes? NO!, this is one scout saying something that isn't any evidence behind, and he doesn't even put his name on it, I'll agree with former Jets coach Herm Edwards on this one, put your name on it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vy9NyUKcGQw
