What is the quietest building at Pop Century?

My husband and I are taking our tenth trip to Disney World at the end of October and staying at Pop Century resort for the first time. We are not going to have children with us this trip, don't care about being close to a pool, and will be driving our own vehicle to and from the parks, so don't need to be close to a bus stop. What we're looking for is the quietest building in the resort (and we do understand that since this is a Value resort, there will be lots of families with children). Any suggestions? Thanks!

Your best bet would be the 90's or 80's as they are furthest from the main pool/lobby area. Disney does kid friendly activities every day from 1-3 at the main pool and it gets kinda loud, so just avoid those rooms (50's-70's....they are preferred rooms anyway, so now you don't have to pay the extra $). You can call Disney and tell them that you want a room on the back side of the 80's building. They will accomodate you if at all possible. Here's a site with a map of Pop Century so you can see what I'm talking about. http://www.wdwinfo.com/maps/PopCenturyMap.pdf

You actually can put in a request for the "quietest area".... when we went to Pop Century in '05, we were on the top floor (3rd floor) in the 50's bldg facing "hourglass lake"...I believe our room number was 3313. This room was at the very end of the wing and was very quiet...we never saw our neighbors, not even once.

...So, you can either call or email Disney and make your request, and make sure you add your reservation # as reference....they will tell you this is not a guarantee, but they have always been very good at accommodating the guests...believe me, I always make room requests and they have always come through for us. ...and then a few days before you leave for vacation, give them another ring to verify your room request...politely asking with a sweet and friendly phone voice goes a loooong way.

Here is a map of the Pop Century so you can sort of pick out your desired area http://allears.net/acc/popmap3.jpg

I agree 80's or 90's always seem the quietest....and you can pick your decade. I've stayed at Pop about 4-5 times and I was able to pick the decade every time through my travel agent.

Everything is pretty quiet after 10 PM. I am a light sleeper and never had any problem at Disney. I've stayed at all the moderates and POP twice. A call to the desk would end anything out the ordinary.

There isn't one building that is quieter than all the others, but in general any room that DOESN'T face one of the pools is going to be more quiet. Last year we stayed in the 50's section; our room faced walkways/parking lot. It was pretty quiet, and I liked it well enough that I requested the same section for our trip next month. The walk to the main building from there isn't too bad either.

The 60's section is the most popular and is used a lot for preferred bookings because it is the closest section to the main building; however, I would say for that reason that it's the noisiest section, as well as being close to the most popular of the three pools and the bar.

When you book your trip just put in a request for whatever section you want and a room that doesn't face any of the pools. If you pay for a preferred room they will guarantee you the section you want, but if that's not so important then just worry about the request for a non-pool view room as that one you should be almost guaranteed to get even with a standard booking. Again, I would recommend avoiding the 60's section, but it's highly unlikely you would be put in that section anyway with just a standard booking.

In a way you answered your own question. Request a room away from the pool, play area & parking lot. Upper floors tend to be quieter. Most kids are in school in October, odds are good there won't be that many to bother you.

well you cannot just pick a specific building.

your best bet to avoid noise would be to opt for a standard room (instad of a pool view or preferred room)

this will likely get you a room nowhere near a pool and nowhere near the main building.

you can end up in any of the 5 secions (50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, or 90's) but you will end up on the opposite side of the building as the pool is located.

this would be the most quiet place for you.

The 90s facing parking lot is where they put us when we did the FL Resident deal a few years back. It is "least" requested due to being more "recent" so it doesn't have as much "retro" appeal as others.

You can't choose which decade you want, but they gave us the '70s which was pretty quiet and decent. In fact, I don't think we had neighbors, and couldn't hear the people above us at all. However, we were across from the huge foosball table, but you could only hear the people once you got closer.
