Hairstyling help for a tomboy?

Okay, so I'm 28 years old and I'm a lifetime tomboy--the extent of my hairstyling knowledge is how to make a ponytail, pigtails, or bun. I'd like to style my hair in a more feminine, polished manner, and I LOVE retro '40s stuff like victory rolls. However, I'm hopeless. I've watched many Youtube tutorials on how to do "easy" retro hairstyles and spent several hours at it--nothing. Bobby pins of all sizes just fall out of my hair.

I've tried Googling "hair styling for dummies" and the like, and I just get more of this unintelligible mess. What should I do? Is there a resource for people like me? I'd really like to be able to do a sort of "golden age of Hollywood" look. Thanks in advance!

i think curly hair expresses an air of girl most, so i strongly suggest you to curl your hair. That's sexy and charming and fit your age. you can go to barbershop to make a hairstyle if you don't know how to make it by yourself. And you also can buy a wig, i know wigs sold at tidebuy is feminine. Or you just let your hair down, it is a most easy way to show girl charactor.
