Question about STAR WARS death scenes?
In all 6 Star Wars movies we see multiple death scenes of both Jedi and Sith characters. Why is it that only Yoda (on Dagoba dying of old age) and Obi Wan Kenobi (on the Death Star, killed by Darth Vader) disappear at the moment of death? Qui Gon Jin, Darth Maul, Count Dooku, Darth Vader are all main character Jedi or Sith that we witness the moment of death but none of them seem to disappear.
Anyone have any thoughts or possible answers?
@Cat Lover, Qui Gon Jin was a Jedi master but did not disappear at his death.

They willingly gave up their existence on this plane to become one with the Force - the others had no intention of dying.

George tried to clear that up at the end of Episode III when Yoda and Obiwan were talking and said that Qui Gon had found the path to immortality (thus being the first ghost Jedi).
It sort of falls apart when you see ghost Anakin at the end of Jedi though. It's obvious his body didn't disappear because we saw him die on the second Death Star and Luke burned his body.
Perhaps, because he finally brought balance to the Force maybe he was in some kind of Ghost Jedi purgatory for a while until right at the end of Jedi they let him be a Ghost Jedi. But then where were the other Jedi? Maybe there is an expanded universe where these other Jedis become Ghost Jedis. Or maybe it was too late.... sorry, you died before Qui Gon figured out the formula... I guess you are in purgatory with Darth Maul and Count Dooku forever.
I wouldn't read too far into it. Star Wars canon is worse than religion the way people have to twist things to make movie gaffes make sense...

Only the purest of the pure Jedi can immediately become one with the force I suppose.
Qui Gon Jin was still a little impulsive compared to our old pals Yoda and the aged Obi Wan.
Sith obviously aren't pure so the force rejects them like a bad kidney.

Some jedi can chose to leave their body, while others decide otherwise. Obi Wan decided to disappear to show Luke how the force works.

Jedi masters, upon their death, go to a higher plane of existence. That is why the three of them appear as holographic images at the end of the film VI, Return of the Jedi.
Lesser Jedi simply die. While the two you mentioned disappeared, Darth Vader also returned from the dead, although it wasn't shown at the time of his death.

Because those are the characters we actually care about, and it's a movie, not an alternate universe.
