On long wait orders, why does burger king make you wait past the window?
I've run into this at my local burger king. I'll order a breakfeast bowl early morning and they have to make it on the spot. I'll pay at the window but being the wait time is so long as they make it on the spot, they then ask me to drive past the window and wait at the walkway into the building a few feet ahead.
Why do they do this?
Is this some type of rule they apply for workers at BK?
Anyone else experience this?
I should add, that early mornings, I may be the only one in line....and driving forward a few feet doesnt let any cars out behind me as it's a limited drive path blocked in the full way around.....

This is done purely to relieve any congestion in the drive-thru line. Whether you are the only one there at the time doesn't matter. They can't predict the future and so they get your car out of the way so the next person who may possibly order a meal which is quicker to make, can get out easily :)

most fast food stores have a timer at their window and they have a limited amount oftime to get an order out and the car to drive away. if this time is surpassed, it wll record negatively on their service speed. I worked at taco bell, and we had 45 sec for someone to order and pull away, bc if their car sat their for longer than 45 sec, we missed our time. we had 1 min to get the payment and get the order out the window. they are probably asking you to pull up so their timer wont go over the target. still, i think it is considered rude and its a false record of their service speed.

They have to take care of indoor orders first, they got the food orders mixed up, they aren't finished making your food.
