how to stop acting shy because people think?
people think i'm really rude, but it's just that i am PAINFULLY shy. like it's hard for me to say hi to someone i know in the street, so i tend to blank them and look away. or if i see someone i know, i will run away and try to make sure they didn't see me. it's hard because i want to make friends and i am pretty, smart, dress well etc but i am really so socially anxious that all those things combined make people think that i'm 'too good' and most people really dislike me. like, i will hurry past and people will roll their eyes. how can i change this??

Well try to discover the root to why you are shy? -.- I mean, just think about it; Why are you so shy?
Are you nervous because you might get rejected? Just anxious about interacting with people you don't really know as well as, let's say, close family members? Or maybe you just dislike interacting with other people. :p <-- Me.
Well, if you know someone, here's a really simple thing to do. Can you smile without making it seem like it's too fake or forced onto your face? Next time someone waves at you and you know 'em, just smile genuinely and wave. Like :D Not :\ or :| or :( I guess :) is okay. But just seem glad.
As for people that DO NOT EVEN KNOW YOU that wave at you... That's pretty cool that strangers wave at you, unless they're old men or some creepy dudes. Stay away from them. But just act casual and be open to conversation. There is nothing to be afraid of, seriously. A wave and a hey isn't going to kill you.
Just be confident (nothing conceited) and smile brightly. Kindness and a GOOD personality is EXTREMELY attractive. Way more attractive than a pretty face. Remember that. That's probably why people think you're snobby. You're pretty (or so you claim) and yet you don't exactly 'acknowledge' other people. A look or glance or semi-long stare isn't going to work.
Best of luck. Just try it. Someday, just be like hey! :) *wave*

Try asking a question with the loudest voice. For example say very loud, but not in a yelling way..how are you doing? ( or whatever question you want to ask depending if you want to have a conversation) This will make them answer you no matter what because if they don't answer they will seem really rude, try doing this often and it will get better in time and you will become less shy, remember to look at them strait in the eyes. This should work trust me I do it all the time !
