>>Career Options: Math major, music minor?

I am currently a college sophomore working towards my mathematics degree, but I am also a music minor (I am a violinist). I am aware of the many career options I have with a math major, but I am looking for something in which I can incorporate my love of music, particularly classical.

I would love to be a full-time musician, but I feel as if I need some more stability than a life of a full-time musician would entail. On the other hand, I absolutely love math, but I often find myself at times getting bored with just doing calculations all day.

Basically, I want the best of both worlds, but I have no clue where to begin.

As of now, I'm looking into going to graduate school for Statistics, and just playing the violin on the side as a hobby/2nd job, but I want a little more than that.

Acoustics engineering seems to be more on the mathematics side, but you can do anything from design concert halls to even making instruments. I still have a while to go before college, but lately I've been looking into careers involving those, as I can play multiple instruments and love music, yet that would hardly be a career in itself and I really love math and want at least some idea of what my options are.

If you're really good at the violin, why don't you give private tuition?

Neither degree is marketable at this time. Teachers are being laid off not hired.

Keep the violin but find another major such as Business and Finance or Accounting. Something that will pay the rent.
