Tell me atheists and christians why do you?
Bash each other and hate on each other and everyone else but when someone is racist they are wrong? Why do you get angry when someone hates on your religion when you hate on everyone elses religion? And yes atheISM is a religion look up the prefix -ism. And why do you both try to control the beliefs of everyone else?
"Is capitalISM also religion? What about canibalISM?" No because capitalism is not a system that involves the supernatural and cannibalism is not a belief but an action, if you actually read about the prefix -ism you would know this. Yes it is a religion and I am not a know it all, you are the ones acting smug and like you know everything and that if we do not believe like you we are crazy and dumb. That is no better than a christian saying that we go to hell if we do not believe like them. And no there is nothing wrong with this post. Humanity is lost by ignorant fools that refuse to see things and are trapped inside there own beliefs like atheists, christians, muslims and Jews and of course those few that are apart of other religions.

Firstly, the prefix -ism, does not make Atheism a religion. People who think this are ignorant.
I do not care about what religion people are.
Whether they choose to be Atheists, or they choose wrong, and become thiests.
I care when Religion influences the Government.
Not so much in England where I live, although I disagree with 26 Bishops being members of the House of Lords, although I'm more concerned with American politics, especially the Republicans.
It's fair enough if the members of the Republican party are Christian, however that should not influence the decisions they plan to make if they where to get into power.
85% of Americans are Christian. Some Republicans have claimed that God told them that they have to get into power to save America. Others have claimed that North Korea, and other countries have to be nuked as God told them so.
If North Korea gets nuked by the US, the US will be nuked by China, North Koreas' Ally. In turn, every country will somehow be involved, and the world's population will decrease by factor 10, there will be mass poverty, and many more people will die from radiation sickness.

Atheism isn't a religion, it's an idea or method of thinking. A theist is a belief system that involves the existence of a God. Putting the a- before it means it's the idea that God does not exist. Just because something has -ism at the end (that's a suffix, by the way) doesn't mean it's a religion. What about capitalism, socialism and anarchism? Those are non-religion political belief systems.
In my opinion, to your original question, Christians bash atheists because atheists call into question the Christians' entire foundation of thinking. Atheists bash theists because they feel like "believers" are not using logic and are basing their decisions on antiquated ideas.
Anyone "bashing" anyone else is acting closed-mindedly, in my opinion, though. That's a truism.

atheism was coined by the religious. it is not a religion and if you really believe that you are somewhat ignorant (possibly by choice).
bashing a christian for their beliefs are justified because the support of their religion damages the society we live in. Bashing a racist is not wrong because it damages the society we live in.
got it? pretty simply really. you can ask all the questions you want but it won;t change the facts about religion because organized religion is dishonest at best.

This is a bit of a generalization, don't you think?
I don't think I express hatred of anyone. I may question some people's beliefs, but I do not think I "bash" them. I don't hate anyone's religion, not even Pastafarianism. If people hate mine, I figure that is their problem. Finally, I have no desire to control the beliefs of others. I am far more concerned with how people act than I am with who or what they worship.

I don't hate anyone.
When people make idiotic, stupid, proven-false, and harmful statements and claims (like religions do), I point out they're idiotic, stupid, proven-false, and harmful.
Racists also make idiotic, stupid, proven-false and harmful claims.
Same thing applies.
I don't care what silly thing anyone "believes" -- I care about their actions in the real world.
And no, atheism isn't a religion, genius. And "-ism" is a suffix, not a prefix.
Peace.

You're assuming we all "bash...and hate on each other". Don't stereotype. I, for one, respect other peoples beliefs instead of trying to convert them to my own viewpoint every chance I get. To every man, his own mountain; we all look down on the world differently. This is also why I believe that you won't truly understand another person until you have experienced what they have. People are diverse and you have to accept that sometimes. It is that grand invention called, "compromise".

"Ism" doesn't mean "religion," sorry.
Look up the definitions of albinism, alcoholism, criticism, racism, magnetism, metabolism, activism, favoritism, materialism, and countless others if you're having trouble with this concept. It's simply a suffix (learn your grammar) which makes adjectives and other nouns into nouns referring to "the quality/state/action of ____"
Secondly, I don't hate anyone. I really really dislike the fact that certain fundamentalists are trying to inject their religious views into the legislature of a secular nation, which is perfectly justified.

"ism"has nothing to do with religion..... unless you are going to call canabalism a religion, or liberalism, or conservatism, or capitalism......
I think YOU need to look up the prefix ism. Your ignorance and stupidity is showing.

No atheism is not a religion or a world view it is simply a lack of belief in god(s). Nothing more, nothing less. It doesn't have a doctrine or dogmas, or set of beliefs.

you should not stand for racism, one can not choose what race they are. Theism in this world is really unacceptable, and the product of a lazy mind. We as a species need to shed religion or we will never be able to move on. God is a childlike delusion that is keeping all of us as a society childish.
