RHH: Is Rap Fan's 100 Favourite Albums List Finished?

Not quite. I’ve got the 100 albums that I want, but I’m still in the process of ordering them. Hopefully it’ll be ready in the next couple of days or so.

I posted a top 50 list before, however it wasn’t really the same as this list… at all. It was a sort of half attempt at a subjective, half attempt at an objective list, and I found myself disliking the list after a while. It just wasn’t really the albums I listen to.

The albums you’ll see in the list are the ones that I really love, and listen to. They’re really my kind of music. The list will probably be controversial (I’ve omitted a few favourites, and the order of albums will probably make some people cringe) but at the end of the day, it’s just a subjective list. It’s just the music I love.

I should probably warn you in advance . . . there's a slightly disturbing lack of gangster rap there.

BQ: On a scale of 1-10, how closely do you predict your personal list (hypothetically if you haven’t actually made one) will be to mine, from what you know of me?

BQ2: Does any of this interest you even slightly?

P.S. Last time I did this, I got 2 stars . . . Now I know I shouldn't be greedy, but if you like the list, or want others to see it, I'd appreciate a star. The only reason I'm saying this is because other people generally rack up 15+ stars for their list.

Thanks guys.

Update:

@Swag: Thanks man.

Update 2:

@Metal Quality: Cool. If you post one, I'd love to see it.

And regarding the whole obscure albums thing: I've got a couple that I'm not sure everyone here has listened to, but for the most part they're albums most of the regs would know. I thought about going into a lot of the stuff I usually listen to that maybe not everyone does, however I realised that those albums, while cool, don't outclass any of the ones on my list. The ones on my list are relatively well known (if only in the underground) for a reason, I think.

Update 3:

@NasTheGodMC: I was pretty damn bored, yeah.

Update 4:

@Slow Flow: I don't hate Southern, although with that said, not many southern albums (aside from QN5, OutKast) made it onto my list.

Update 5:

@Mista Gab: Uhh . . . yeah... besides rap! Right . . . I have lots of that stuff!

Update 6:

@NoOffense: You're right about me liking horrorcore, however there probably isn't as much here as most would think. See above about the obscure albums thing.

Cool. I made one a few months back but I should probably update it sometime considering I've heard alot of albums since then that would make my list now.

BQ: maybe around 7-8, I'm sure it would share alot of the classics and most people in this section appreciate similar artists anyway.

BQ2: Sure and yeah I'd star it since I know the effort it takes to make one

Yeah, I made the attempt of making a favorite 100, but it's just too hard to give

respect to the classics and still put down my personal favorites. I want my list to

reflect my taste more than just the best list possible. So good luck with that.

BQ: Aren't you a horrorcore head?

I might have The Future is Now in my top 100. But I bet our lists will be pretty

    different. 5/10

BQ2: Yeah, I guess. For some reason, CBS, Madlib, and Wirftgu posted their

favorites all at the same time awhile back. They all got like 15 stars.

My list wouldn't be too obscure, in fact, if you actually read my answers,

most of y'all would probably be able to name my top 10.

    "Not quite"

    Didn't see that coming.

BQ: 5, maybe. I've been more into abstract hip-hop, and obscure underground artists lately, so my list would probably reflect that. I don't really see that as being your thing.

BQ2: Yeah, I really hope it'll start the "Top 100" trend that we had a few years back. I remember setting aside almost a whole day to make my list, lol.

I'll star it when you post it (assuming I see it)

Cool, I could never comply a list like this. Mostly because I hate listing my favorite albums in order, even if it's just 10 of them lol.

BQ: About a 6 or so. I'm expecting the majority of your list to be East Coast based - not like that's a bad thing, just that it seems that's the type of hip-hop you're mostly into.

BQ2: Yeah, I'll check out the list.

Damn, to do a top 100 list is crazy. I don't think I could even do a top 50 list if I tried lol. It'd take too long, too many great albums out their to decide which is better than the other.

BQ: Since you said a lack of gangster rap... probably a 4/10.

BQ: Sure, I'm curious to see what else you like besides rap.

    Good for you.

BQ: I don't think it'd be all that similar. I think there'd be some obvious similarities, but not too many. I wouldn't have too many gangster rap albums in mine either though (other than The Chronic and Doggystyle). I wouldn't have any N.W.A. either probably, so that'd be one thing, but other than that not very alike. 6/10

I actually thought about making a list like such, but gave up. There's just too many albums I'd worry about forgetting. I know my top 3 for sure though.

    BQ2: Yeah, sure.

    This would be interesting.

BQ: I'm really not that sure, I'm going to go with 6/10 but for all I know it may be 10/10. I'm not really that good at predicting things.

BQ2: Yes, I like to listen to what other people like, sometimes I will like it as well, but sometimes I will think it is something that I don't really like or i'll find like one song that I do like.
