Other answer is correct. It was Isadora Duncan. She was not an actress, but a dancer. She was the inventor of American modern dance. Lived from May 27, 1877 to September 14, 1927. She was in Nice, France when her scarf became entangled around the open-spoked wheel and rear axle of her car, breaking her neck.
