How to stop telemarketers harassing me?
Every day, I get at least 10 calls from telemarketers, and at least half of them are from the same number. I answer the phone and they ask for someone who isn't me. Every time I tell them that they have the wrong number and they hang up while I am in the middle of telling them to stop calling and to take me off the list. They continue to call daily. Their phone number displays on my cell phone with the area code but only 6 digits after that. So I can not identify who they are, plus I think they are outsourced to India, the call centers. I am getting tired of this, I ask them every time they call to stop calling, its bordering on harassment now. What do I do to get them to stop calling me? I have just put my number on the do not call list, so I know they have 31 days to stop calling me. Thanks.
It seems to me that two out of three of you didn't read my whole question/description. I can not identify the callers, the numbers are jacked up where one number is dropped off at the end. And they seem to be outsourced in India, I am not mailing a letter to india, and I do not know where to send it anyway if I can't even identify the callers.
I understand I can change my number, the fact is, I would rather not have to give out a new phone number to everyone, plus I am looking for a second job right now and if I change my number, the potential employers can not reach me. I'd like for this bull crap to stop, yes, but I'd like justice to be done to the harassers.

One VERY easy way to show them that you don't like their calls is to have a police or referee's whistle right next to the phone and whenever they call you you give a VERY loud blast of your whistle down the phone at them.
You will soon find that the calls diminish - almost in direct proportion to their deafness ! ! !

They call from all different numbers so that won't work. I used to be a telemarketer in 2006. What you need to do is;
Register on your states NO CALL LIST. I do not know what state live in (actually I'm assuming you live in the US also.) so i cannot look this info up for you.
Wait about 30 days (or however long they tell you it will take to go into effect)
After you have done this, the very next time they call you need to tell them that you have been registered on your states do not call list and that you would like to speak with their supervisor so you can make these calls stop. Most telemarketers feel bad for the people they're calling, especially when you are getting the same person 3 times a day (happens often). If they do not obey this the telemarketing agency can face legal action, so they are serious about it.

Do a Google search for the phone number and i'll bet you'll find others who have had your problem and may know who the company is. Then file a complaint with the FCC.

a million. do not answer the phone. 2. Ask them to do away which includes your variety from their lists. 3. tell them to quit calling. 4. Say you'll employ an legal specialist and document a lawsuit. 5. tell them you're replacing your variety. variety 2 and 5 worked superb for me.

This is the easiest thing in the world to overcome.
Change your phone number. Its not rocket science.
Dont say it can not be done.
Because if you really wanted to change your phone number you could.
You would also know if you changed your phone number it could be done in no time at all. Because thats the way the world works.

send them a certified cease and desist letter and after having the proof that they received the letter if they keep calling sue the hell out of them.
