  • How long should you be in a job before applying for a home mortgage?

I live with my sister. I ve been in my hospital nursing job for 2 years. We need a bigger house because of our kids. Unfortunately she lost her job and is looking for a new one. She works in customer service type positions.

How long do you think she should be in the new job once she gets it before we can safely apply for a mortgage?

  • Trying to find out what this rash might be.?

I have a skin rash of flat, round, solid pink red circles of dime to quarter sizes on my legs. No drainage, itching, or pain. They aren't rings, so I don't think it's ringworm. I'm not taking any antibiotics or anything. I can't figure out what it is. Any ideas.

  • Help me find a desktop (preferred) or a laptop PC for twin 6 year old boys.?

    Hi,

I'm looking for a desktop or laptop for my twin nephews. They already use the desktops at school and our laptops to play games on PBSKids.org and do school games. But we want them to have one for themselves at home. I don't have an old, used computer to give them and I'd want something kind of 'kid friendly'. I also don't want to spend a crazy amount of money either. Any suggestions??

    Thanks,

    Mary

  • I need advice on traveling to Hawaii with the whole family.?

My family and I want to travel to Hawaii. We'd like to see more then one island, but my 86 y/o mom doesn't fly very well. The flight to get to Hawaii would be enough. But the islands aren't that far apart. Aren't their inter-island cruises or ferries that we could use to go from one island to the other? I've looked at some cruises, but they are very, very expensive. There must be some other options then inter-island flights and $6000 per person cruises.

  • Question about Queen Anne of England's many lost babies?

Has anyone figured out why Queen Anne of England (Mary II's sister) lost so many babies. 17 pregnancies resulting in stillbirths, miscarriages, and babies who died very young. I read somewhere that in several of the stillbirths/miscarriages, they know that the infant had been dead for several days or even weeks.

Any idea what could cause this? I haven't found anything.

    Thanks, Mary

  • How do I learn to drive a motorcycle?

    Hi,

I want to learn to drive a motorcycle. I'm a woman and I don't want to look like a fool. I rode with a guy a couple times many, many years ago, but that is all. I don't even know anyone now who has one, so I can't ask any friends. I've just always wanted to learn how to do this. How do I learn? I know that there are Harley shops where you can learn, but their classes are expensive. So do you have any ideas and am I nuts for wanting this?

BTW-I don't know how to drive a manual transmission car. Will that matter?

    Thanks :)

  • So who messed up Yahoo this time?

Why can't I go back into the comments section in news articles and read my comments to see if there is a reply anymore? All clicking on the 'My Comments' section does is bring up all the comments again. Someone messed up Yahoo again. I wonder how long it will take for them to fix it.

  • Repost: knee pain from walking?

I need help. I went walking around a lake today on a paved walking path. I was wearing shoes that are supposed to be good-Asics. The lake is about 6 miles around and I got 5 miles and couldn't finish. My knees were killing me. It was very painful and the pain seemed to be located on the sides of my knees. First it was the right knee, then the left. I didn't twist anything and I was only walking. Granted, that is much more exercise then I normally get.

I am wondering if biking would put less pressure on my knees and maybe I should do that instead.

Or will my knees just get used to walking as I continue to exercise?

Or do I need to put some gel soles in my shoes, etc

Please help. I'm posting this in more then one category so I can get more answers.

  • Please help me with this medical math question?

I'm sure this is simple, but I can't figure out how to set this up. Please tell me the specific steps:

Question: The doctor wrote an order for 8.5 ml of Tylenol w/ Codeine Elixir. The elixir comes as Tylenol-120 mg and Codeine-12mg per each 5 ml.

So how many mg of Tylenol are in 8.5 ml and how many mg of codeine are in 8.5 ml?

Please tell me how to figure this out. Thanks!

  • Do you think that a great fire could happen today?

I mean a fire like the Great Fire of London or the Great Chicago Fire. A fire where a very large portion of a city was destroyed. I don't mean a forest fire or a fire caused by war. I just mean a huge fire that gets out of control. I'm thinking that it really couldn't because of the number of fire departments that we have, the aircraft that can drop water, and the city water systems that would allow home owners to spray with a hose until a fire truck could get there.

    What do you think?

  • Will a broken tomato plant grow?

Hi-my 3 year old nephews and I planted a container garden for their Grandma for Mother's Day today (it was the first dry weekend we had). Anyway-we put a tomato plant in a large, large container and it had about 12-14 inches of growth and leaves. It's a full size tomato, maybe a Beefeater or a Better Boy variety. Then one child fell on it. The top of the stem broke off.

Now there is about 2-3 inches of plant above the soil and a couple branches with leaves. It looked like a clean break and the parts below it looked fine. Plus, the roots were already in the ground and weren't damaged.

Do you think it will continue to grow?

  • Replacing a screen on a Toshiba laptop?

I've got a crack in the screen on my laptop. It is getting bigger. I wonder if it would cost more to replace it then it would to just junk it and get a new laptop. It is a Satellite L675-S7108. I don't know if I could replace it myself. I've only had the pc for a couple years and I don't know if I want to replace it. Plus all the new ones are going to run Windows 8, which I hate.

So how much does it cost (approximately) to replace a 17.3 inch screen?

  • Medical procedures and Islam Question?

Hi-I'm a nursing student and I was watching a video on You Tube of a surgical procedure that took place in Egypt. It made me think of something.

I know that under the rules of Islam that people are allowed to take care of themselves and others and avoid any harm, like a pregnant woman or diabetic doesn't have to fast during Ramadan and a doctor can ignore the call to prayer if someone needs help.

But do doctors and surgeons schedule the procedures that they need to perform around the prayer times? I don't mean in an emergency. I mean when something is prescheduled? Is that how hospitals in Islamic countries do scheduling for procedures?

I'm just wondering so I would appreciate your answers.
