How big is the tank? What kind of fish? How many? We need to know these so we can help you.

Also did you cycle the tank? It takes 6-8 weeks if you didn't expect to lose some or all.

They will be okay in the small tank temporarily; though it really depends on how many fish and what size tank we're talking about. While you cycle and buy a heater for the other tank you've set up, they can stay in one tank, but they won't stay for long. The tank cannot support that much bioload and your ammonia will spike. Do water changes (20%) every two days or so to keep the ammonia levels down. But yeah, soon the fish will have to be moved to a new tank.

Just a tip hopefully you have gone this way DO NOT get another thermometer that sits in the tank But a stick on one that sticks to the outside of the tank on the glass and saves you heartache of this happening never again....

Get a larger tank, or split the fish up into two medium sized tanks. It just depends in how big the fish are. Hope this helps(:

Just make sure you feed them and take care of them.

Otherwise, I don't see why you should get rid of them.
