Why do so many religious people have no sense of humour?

I was just told I was a "brat", Though I am very flattered, I haven't been called that in years ( I am 60 yrs. old.) I didn't say anything derogatory just a little humor-- I thought.

Any insights?

Update:

I was also blocked. I can't remember exactly what I said, But I swear it wasn't bad.

And definitely not bad enough to be "ashamed"

I think it's easier for some religious people to believe that we're all sulky rebellious teens who'll just grow up and come back to their tribal fetish any day now. It's easier than believing the truth.

Although on Yahoo! Answers they may have a point. I'm not convinced of the maturity of some of the sceptics. here. Hurling hate and insults around is neither constructive or humorous.

But either way, you've got to laugh at yourself and your beliefs sometimes. The whole scenario on R&S is too ridiculous not to! If they can't do that, they need to take a step back and get out just a bit more.

    Hackett out.

What's funny to one person might not be funny to another. Some questions that are posted might seem funny to the one asking. They should put themselve in the other person's shoes (as long as they do not have them on lol)

God does not like carnality or foolish jesting (dirty jokes, etc.) But there is nothing wrong with laughing - it's like a medicine. As long as it's not intended to hurt some one - we don't know what you asked so we cannot really be objective.

For instance - I do a service at a nursing home on Sunday's - one of the residents said his sister said he was being brain-washed. I said, yep, I sure have to scrub hard - we had a good laugh.

I am very serious when it comes to the Bible.

the actual incontrovertible fact that you've a simpsons avatar tells me that youhave not had a humorousness for a minimum of a decade. given the video contained in the link i ought to assert that your humorousness is ideal up the alley of what the simpsons declare is humorous yet is definitely a lot less relaxing than a root canal. matt groening must have killed himself 5 years in the past- the purely humorous element any simpsons personality has finished considering that became at the same time as trey parker and matt stone used a "bart-like" photo contained in the caricature wars 2d section episode on south park.

Because most of the time people arnt just being "humorous" they're insulting [on purpose] so its hard to tell when someone is serious with the joke or not. Blame it on the trolls who abuse the word "joke" or "humor"

Maybe you call it humor, but i bet it was rude and insulting, That is what we usually get from non believers, then you want to act innocent and say it was a joke.If I insulted you, would you see the humor in it?

Their brain is jammed with so much washing, hence the name, brainwashing that they don't have a sence of humor.

Some spiritual people get insecure about their beliefs when aspects of that faith are unclear or in doubt. The same way agnostics/atheists fall ill humored when faced with the difficulties of trying to ascertain truth and their frustrations with their current inability to attain faith.

  • People that know yet refuse to come to terms with the fact that what they believe is nonsense react in anger because to accept criticism or engage in a lucid discussion will only bring their doubts to the surface and their "Faith" would crumble.
